Abstract
This publication presents a 1:100,000-scale preliminary geologic map of the Firehole Canyon 30' x 60' quadrangle, encompassing portions of Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado. The map provides an updated synthesis of the region's bedrock geology, integrating previous work with refinements derived from aerial imagery, lidar, and field investigations. Diverse geologic features are represented, including the southwestern Rock Springs Uplift, the eastern margin of the Bridger Basin, and the northern flank of the Uinta Mountains. Formations spanning the Late Cretaceous to the Quaternary record a complex geologic history, with lithologies ranging from marine shales and deltaic sandstones to fluvial-lacustrine deposits and volcaniclastic materials.
