Abstract
Description
Statistics show that most home fires start in the kitchen and are mostly due to unattended cooking. The aim of my senior design project is to have a system in place that will monitor the condition of the cooktop and its environment and alert the user of any possible hazards. If the user does not respond to the system alarm, then the system will cut power supply to the cooktop to minimize the chances of a fire starting. The system's user interface is used to display the condition of the system, display reports of any alarms that have been set off and also lets the user choose what conditions the system should monitor.
