Abstract
Description
The scientific community continues to make major advances and discoveries every day. Changes in policy as a result, however, are slow to come. This is largely the result of policymakers being slow or reluctant to act, but why is this so? This paper seeks to identify the factors that contribute to stagnate policy in the face of ever-changing science. In particular, this paper will focus on the ongoing debates surrounding the science and policies of climate change, vaccinations, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). After identifying the underlying issues that contribute to the "bad policy" alternatives will be offered in regards to how effective policy can be made.
