STAT 2050/3050/5050 - Stats Alive: Concepts and Tools

Gerow, Ken
Crawford, Scott
Abstract
Description
Statistical methods are used to analyze data to make conclusions in a world full or error and uncertainty. This text concentrates on the ideas, methods, and background needed for statistical analyses. It is intentionally written to be engaging, fun, and interesting to read as well as educational. We avoid equations in favor of computer analyses, and there are no homework questions as instructors should have their own preferences. This text is designed for the learner. The current edition includes core concepts (the role of the Normal distribution, properties and procedures for confidence intervals and hypothesis tests), and a starter kit of statistical tools: methods for one and two samples (including paired samples) and an introduction to regression. Look for more in a second edition, due in early 2020.
