Description
A memoir about the past eight years of my life, when health issues forced me to recognize and replace the unconscious lies I believed about myself and the world. I'm passionate about how the narratives we tell ourselves shape our perceptions of our own identities, as well as our outward actions.
My project is not an entire memoir; instead, it consists of a 20-page “chapter” of a would-be book. (I have also written a 10-page summary of what the rest of the book would cover.) The chapter is written in the first-person present tense, and it reads almost like a series of snapshots. A few example “snapshots” are the day I first experienced physical symptoms, my diagnosis years later, my treatment at a clinic, and a stage of my incremental healing afterward.
