Abstract
Description
Family-centered evidence-based practice (EBP) suggests tools for clinicians to better assist families in, research-driven solutions for decision making or and interventions. The Family Paradigm Assessment Scale (F-PAS) is one of the tools that can help a clinician understand how a family interacts in the world and operates on a day-to-day basis. Through additional research, increased reliability may be achieved by improving the F-PAS. Hence, a clinician may be able to provide more comprehensive services that for clients, which will improve the quality of intervention. Family paradigm (Constantine, 1986; David R. Imig, 2005; Kantor & Lehr, 1975) describes four viewpoints (closed, random, open, and synchronous) in which different families view their resources of time, space, energy, and materials to achieve goals of control, affect, meaning, and content. There are also four player parts, similar to the four paradigms that exist within each family. These are the challenger, mover, commenter, and supporter. Each reflects a behavior a family member may use when deciding how a family's resources and goals will be distributed. Aim: The aim of this project is to determine possible changes needed in the questions and administration of the F-PAS by considering the test-retest reliability data for F-PAS components.
