New or Little Terrace-Mammoth Hot Springs Yellowstone Park.

R.E. Steele,
Abstract
Description
This is a new terrace forming at the base of Minerva Terrace. The quantity of water is very small compared with the amount of deposit, which is about one-eighth of an inch in four days. Articles of iron, glass or any hard substance placed in the water when it is flowing are soon covered with a crystal white deposit. Basins or pools line the sides of the terraces, presenting the most delicate covering from the lightest cream to the deepest shades of yellow at the base, the predominating color being bright orange. Each basin is filled with transparent blue water. This terrace is near Cap of Liberty. On the hill beyond is old Fort Yellowstone.
