Trends of Tobacco Compliance in Wyoming
The Synar Tobacco Inspections take place throughout Wyoming each summer and seek to determine whether tobacco retailers in the state are selling to underage buyers. While completing inspections, buyers collect data pertaining to the details of the store they enter, observations about the clerk, and details about the interaction they have with the clerk. After many years of Synar inspections, this research seeks to determine whether trends for best practices have emerged. Logistic regression is used to determine predictive factors that have the greatest effect on inspection outcome. Further, stratification by year explores how the effects of different predictors have changed over time. Future research should explore the effects of Tobacco 21 on retailer compliance and explore spatial and temporal trends.
