The initial survey of the Sheridan Railroad Historic District, building descriptions and historical research for this National Register nomination were completed by University of Wyoming students as part of a historic preservation field class and summer internships under the supervision of Mary Humstone. The nomination was sponsored by the Sheridan Heritage Center. The individual properties within the National Register nomination are organized by street and property address beginning with the north-south streets (Broadway, Gould Street and Main Street) and continuing with the east-west streets in numerical order from First to Fifth.
