Mental Health and Me: A Podcast

media
posted on 2021-11-15, 18:44 authored by Alexandra Jacobson
Mental health is a buzzword of the modern era, heard across social media and theoretical conversations. But what does it mean? What does ‘mental health’ mean to you? Disability and mental health are complex embodied experiences, meaning that everyone experiences it differently. Some factors affecting mental health may be biological, psychological, or social, to name a few. But social interactions and dominant beliefs affect how we see our own mental health. The goal of this project is to explore how individuals conceptualize their own journeys with mental health, and how they interact with the world to create positive mental health. Participants gave an oral history of their experiences and discussed the various factors that affect the way they see themselves and their mental health. Other participants discussed how they work with to foster positive mental health in their field of work.
